Happy Holidays! We are excited to give our Boston Pops groups an advance look at the thrilling 2018 season!!
Popular singer-songwriter Andy Grammer (“Keep Your Head Up,” “Honey, I’m Good”) is the special guest for Opening Night. Plus, throughout the season Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops pay tribute to Lawrence, Massachusetts native Leonard Bernstein on the centennial of his birth. The 2018 Pops season is your opportunity to hear “America’s Orchestra” perform the music of this American musical icon, including a presentation of On the Town complete with Broadway singers and dancers, and a concert performance of Bernstein’s most famous Broadway score, West Side Story.
As we continue to expand our Pops Rock & Roll library, the Pops will perform legendary rock classics of the 70s and 80s that pair perfectly with the scale of a symphony orchestra! Experience the majesty and drive of favorites from Pink Floyd, Queen, the Who, the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and others as you've never heard them before. Fresh off of Pete Townsend's Quadrophenia tour,British singing sensation Alfie Boe will join the Pops for this night of classic rock & roll hits!
Straight from Broadway Tony winners Sutton Foster (Thoroughly Modern Millie and the TV show Younger) and Leslie Odom, Jr. (Hamilton and the recent film Murder on the Orient Express), both return to the Pops stage. And, for the first time, the Pops presents an evening devoted to music from Disney shows on Broadway, including Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and Mary Poppins.
By popular demand, two perennially favorite programs, “John Williams’ Film Night” and “Gospel Night,” return. Movie magic takes center stage in a “Dance to the Movies” program featuring fresh interpretations of classic musical numbers from such films as Grease, Chicago, Hairspray, and more.
It promises to be an unforgettable season of captivating music-making you can only find with the Boston Pops at Symphony Hall. Return your order form today so that your group will have the best seats in the house for “America’s Orchestra” in its 2018 season, May 9 – June 16.
